Do you have a bucket list, to-do list, or any kind of list? I guess you would have at least one. When you try to accomplish something out of these lists, you might get overwhelmed.
In life, you will have lots of this to read, watch, travel, and more. You can't read all the books in the world, nor are you able to visit all the places.
So what should you do?
Approach any kind of list like a river, not a bucket. Rivers are like free-flowing, in the moment, where the path takes. The goal here should be to think of the "lists" like a flowing river, pick a choice, and move on. Try not to take an approach like a bucket list or a to-do list where you would have an obligation to "Finish".
When you look at this like a River you will enjoy the moment.
Here I remember a quote i read way back;
"Collect books, even if you don't plan on reading them right away. Nothing is more important than an unread library." - Filmmaker John Waters
The goal should be to treat the "to-read" pile like a flowing river, picking out choice items, rather than feeling the need to empty a bucket of unread material.
Ultimately, the author argues that internalizing the reality that some genuinely impossible tasks cannot be done is a key "productivity technique" that can be liberating.
